Open Sailing - 21st June, 2022
MIDSUMMER NIGHTS MAGIC OPEN SAILING @ RFYC
Yesterday evening (Tues 21st June) saw 5 boats taking part in our 3rd RFYC Open Sailing event and allowed a total of 13 guests to experience a just a little bit of "Midsummers Magic" on the Forth.
With a few logistical and language barriers overcome, most boats were able to get on the water by 18.30hrs.
Once again, the weather Gods were looking favourably upon us and provided a fairly constant SW moderate breeze that allowed the fleet a leisurely sail over the Forth towards Aberdour on the Fife coast.
The return journey was made with the reminder of the constraints of having to be back in the harbour for the boatman finishing at 20.45hrs. However, most boats found themselves back a little earlier than anticipated and allowed time for skippers and crews to show off their Tacking and Gybing skills prior to returning.
The evening concluded with most skippers and crews returning to the clubhouse to enjoy refreshments and a chance to reflect upon the evening.
Particular thanks go out to Alastair Wight who kindly volunteered space on his yacht "Errant" to two unexpected gusts and also to Ally Black who, as volunteer boatman, allowed everyone a "leisurely and safe return from their boats.
The next Open Sailing event is on Tuesday 19th July 2022 and if you are able to join in, please check out the RFYC Open Sailing web page for details, book a ticket and come along and join in the fun with us. We meet at the club patio area at 17.45hrs with the intention of being on the water for 16.00hrs. Returning to the clubhouse usually a few hours afterwards for refreshments and socialising.
Hope to see you there!
