Lift-In 2020

Published 22:03 on 18 Jun 2020
At the unearthly hour of 0730 on Tuesday 16th June a smaller than usual team of dedicated boat owners arrived at Granton to lift-in their boats. This was 2 months later than originally planned but, given the current circumstances, they were just delighted to be able to get afloat and enjoy the remainder of the season.
Some owners left it till the very last minute to decide whether they were going in or staying in the yard. We eventually craned in 10 boats and put another (Eider, Contessa 32 ) on a low loader to commence her journey to Oban.
The yard was cleared and we started lifting just after 09:00 hrs and the 10 boats which went in were all afloat and on their moorings by 11:00 hrs despite the obstruction of the barge on the slip.
Eider was then craned onto the low loader and all the boats and trailers moved earlier were put back in the yard and we were finished by 14:00 hrs.
An excellent effort by all those involved.
The Sailing Committee will shortly be publishing a revised sailing calendar to try and maximise organised sailing activities for the rest of the season. These activities will conform to the latest RYA Scotland and Government restrictions. Please check your weekly newsletter for the most up to date club activity and guidance.
In the meantime the cadets have continued to enjoy weekly sessions virtually and online racing has been very active.
Let's all hope that the 'real' sailing season is now well and truly underway!
