2nd up in our Winter Talks series is Restoration Forth! with Dr Bill Sanderson & Dr Richard Lilley.

The evening will begin with an introduction by The Newhaven Community Choir, formed in honour of the famous Newhaven Fisherwives Choir, who will perform a selection of traditional songs celebrating historic industry in the Forth. The illustrated talk will begin @ 20:00.

The Forth was once home to enormous native oyster beds: an important source for food and livelihoods. Oysters and seagrass improve water quality, reduce pollution and nurture increased biodiversity. Sadly, Forth oysters have been wiped out and the UK has also lost up to 92% of seagrass meadows. We are honoured to be hosting this talk by Dr Bill Sanderson and Dr Richard Lilley of the Restoration Forth team. Dr Sanderson led the Dornoch Environmental Enhancement Project with Glenmorangie which is successfully restoring up to 4 million oysters to the Dornoch Firth. Dr Lilley, CEO of Project Seagrass is an expert in the development of seagrass restoration projects across the UK and around the world. Over the course of the Restoration Forth project, which runs over 3 years, around 4 hectares of seagrass meadows will be restored and 30,000 oysters introduced in the Forth. Come and hear how you can get involved.

Bookings are open to RFYC members, and to recap, you are, as members, welcome to invite a group of up to ten guests.

We're very lucky to host these guest speakers. Come and join us!
