Now you see them, now you don't - Lift Out 2021

Published 15:28 on 6 Oct 2021
After yesterday's dreich weather and threatening forecast, today's glorious sun was a real boon to the Lift Out team's operations, and a relief to boat owners and volunteers. Bacon rolls and a briefing started the day, which would see roughly 60 boats lifted out and tucked in for the Winter. It's a real shame to see them leave Granton Harbour, whose charm the yachts contribute to enormously. Lift Out is always a seasonal marker: the nights are closing in, the air is becoming fresh and crisp, the swallows have gone home soon to replaced by the long-distance migrant knot drawn to the balmy Scottish Winter. On land, we are rewarded with stunning Autumnal landscapes: golden leaves and frosted hills.
Thanks as always go to the whole team (particularly Brian and Piotr (Harbour)) who put in a great deal of effort to make things run without a hitch, and to Will (House) for keeping our fellows fed and watered. We now look forward to a revitalised Winter season of talks and events. Watch this space, sea lovers!
