Open Sailing @ RFYC Tuesday 25th July 2023

Our most recent Open Sailing event took place on Tuesday (25th July) resulting with 15 guests being taken out by our intrepid skippers for a short taster sail on the Forth.
Once again, the forecast of high winds and the threat of rain did not deter our intrepid skippers as they took to the water for what was to be a very enjoyable sail.
All boats decided to adopt a cautious sail plan with most opting for reefed Main and reduced Genoa and some boats sailing under Genoa alone.
On leaving the harbour, most boats with the exception of Silkie who opted for the sheltered waters of Wardie Bay, decided to head in a NW direction towards Aberdour and due to the steady 20/24knt Westerlies, very quickly found themselves over the deep channel. A few of the quicker boats decided at this point that time would allow them to return to harbour taking the course via the West side of Inchmickery while others tacked around and headed directly back to harbour.
Many thanks to all skippers who turned out for this event and to Neil Moffat for manning the bar on our return to the clubhouse where refreshments were enjoyed.
Once again, another enjoyable evening's sail with most guest expressing a wish to do so again at some point.
Hoping to see you then.
