Near perfect conditions for Open Sailing

Published 13:05 on 2 Jul 2025
Guests were treated to a wonderful couple of hours on the water on the latest Open Sailing event held at the club.
Five members generously gave up their time to take twelve guests on their boats and treat them to a few hours of sailing in near perfect conditions.
With steady E. N/E winds of between 12/15knts most boats departed with full sail and made their way over towards the deep water channel. Some more adventurous skippers opted to go further up river and round Oxcar, Inchcolm and Inchmickery before returning to harbour.
It was particularly rewarding to see Eriskay (Westerly Fulmar) sailing again from RFYC after a few years absence. Hopefully Mike and Graham (new owners) will have many years of adventure in her.
The temptation is always there to stay out a little bit longer when we are presented with such favourable conditions but time restrictions to be back in harbour before the boatman finishes must be observed.
For some of the guests this was to be their first experience on board a sailing yacht and judging from the reactions received after we arrived back at the club for some socialising, it wont be their last.
Our next Open Sailing event takes place on 15th July 2025.
Hope you can make it!
