Knowledge Hub on the water-Marina Manoeuvres in gusty winds

The first practical session of the Knowledge Hub series was a very successful and enjoyable evening. Almost reduced to a theory session by the whistling easterly wind, it died down enough to go and practice what had been discussed in the Clubhouse lounge. Alex and Torben had talked through the techniques and shared some personal mishaps so they could be avoided. They then made themselves available to talk through the techniques as they were being carried out on board the participating boats.

Some boats were practising going astern, some picking up moorings, others were springing off the pontoon like pros.

The next session is another practical one: an introduction to racing on Saturday 31st May. It starts at 2.00 pm in the clubhouse with presentation on "how racing works", and how to start your racing career. There will then be an opportunity to practice some racing skills on the water under the supervision of experienced sailors (for crews, this is subject to availability of enough spaces on the participating boats).

Both skippers and crews of all levels of expertise, in particular new members, are welcome. Once back on shore everyone will convene in the clubhouse to socialise and answer any racing-related questions!
