Open Sailing @ RFYC Tuesday 8th August 2023

With Westerly winds ranging from 16 to 24 knots and slight to moderate sea state, our guests last night were treated to a little bit of excitement for our penultimate Open Sailing event.
With most boats opting to reef, our fleet made their way across to the deep water channel before turning round and heading back to harbour. Some boats took a course further Westwards to take a look at Inchmickery before returning.
It is always a pity that, on such near perfect sailing conditions as we had last night, return to harbour presents itself so quickly!
However, our brief time spent on the water for these events is, as always, dictated by our launch service and the short sails that we are fortunate enough to achieve are purely tasters of what our guests can expect sailing from our wonderful harbour on the Forth.
On return, having safely manoeuvred the Pilot boat and cadets training in the West harbour, most skippers and crew headed to the clubhouse to enjoy a refreshment and the chance to discuss the evenings event.
Later, listening to reports from the skippers that took part, most of their guests had expressed how much they enjoyed the evening with many of them enquiring about how to further their sailing pursuits and also membership of our club.
Thanks go to all the Skippers who took part last night and special thanks to Neil Moffat and Mark Harding for manning the bar on our return to the clubhouse.
Our final Open Sailing event of the year takes place on 22nd August 2023 at 17.45hrs and with the booking form already filling up its sounding promising.
Hoping to see you then.
