WINTER TALK: Adventurous North Sea crossings with Ingrid by Torben Sell
Published 17:57 on 9 Jan 2023
We are delighted to welcome you to this first RFYC Winter Talk of 2023, given by RFYC member Torben Sell. Torben won the Log Entry competition at our Prizegiving 2022 for his highly entertaining Log, From Granton to Lübeck (via Gothenburg) having spent the summer sailing across the North and Baltic Seas. He sailed double-handed from Edinburgh to Gothenburg, onwards turning south to Lübeck, then to Kiel and via the Kiel Canal back to Helgoland, from where he sailed single-handed back to Edinburgh. Torben will entertain us with anecdotes from his sails and explain:
- what sailing in a near gale in the Skaggerak feels like;
- what to do when the engine breaks in the middle of a 200 miles passage; and
- how he managed to sleep when sailing by himself for three nights.
Please arrive for 7pm, settle in and get yourself a drink at the bar. The talk will last approximately one hour followed by chat. The bar will be open all evening.
Non-members are of course welcome as invited guests. As part of your membership with RFYC you may invite up to ten friends and family.
We look forward to seeing you there.
No booking required.
