THANK YOU - Discover Sailing 2023

Published 14:09 on 26 May 2023
Last Sunday saw a very successful Discover Sailing event hosted by the Club where the public were invited to go for a short sail and learn more about what the Club can offer. A total of 115 people were taken out on members' boats in weather that didn't really reflect the time of year! We've had very encouraging feedback from their experiences with membership applications following, interest in the Cadets training programme and also future participants in the Open Sailing evenings.
Discover Sailing wouldn't happen without our Royal Forth volunteers. Thank you to all members who volunteered their time to make it a very enjoyable and successful afternoon. As fewer clubs in the area take part in this RYA backed event, it thus provides Royal Forth with an effective platform to raise the profile and cement our position as the leading sailing club on the Forth.
Thank you in particularly to the skippers of the following boats who took part:
Wizz Too, Glengarry, Cockenzie Lass, Solveig, Suen, Kismet (Dragon), Kismet (Leisure), Skyebear, Gonzo, Idothea, and Lily.
And to all those who helped with the running of the event, the logistics on the day, registration, BBQ, drinks upstairs, the band, the bunting
We have already had some lovely feedback, including this lovely comment from a lady on Instagram:
"Had a free try at sailing - got a steer of the helm Captain's quote about my steering 'the harbour walls don't move' "Thank you to David for taking Sarah and I out in your yacht for a trial run and keeping us on the right sailing path beautiful and such fun! Very generous of all to invite us in."
This is what it's all about.
See you next year!
THANK YOU
