Cruise in Company 6th September
Published 11:55 on 23 Sep 2025
This was our last Cruise in Company of the season. In bidding 'au revoir' to this season's sea faring life, grand ideas were aired by the organisers about overnight anchorages off the island of Fidra to search the island for treasure but unfortunately, the weather forecast had other ideas.
Jokes aside, it turned out to be an incredible cruise of boat partying and barbequing, with dolphin sightings, anchoring (new for some, draggy for others) and blissful company. Not to mention the sail to the harbour of Inchkeith, a treasure of an island itself, and close to RFYC sailing hearts.

The participation was huge, with 11 boats taking part as a perfectly coordinated flotilla which, 1h into the cruise, smoothly agreed and communicated each other the change in the destination, from Portobello to the west harbour of Inchkeith. This was a great choice to make the most of the weather (calmer breeze and veering to southerly) and also meant everyone could make it back to the club in time for the Jazz night (and drinks)!
Highlights included:
- the transport efficiency of Sea Ventures's dinghy which put Calmac to shame

- C. 40 pieces of meat grilled aboard Voodoo by its vegetarian skipper

- the might of Ingrid's anchor, capable of holding herself, Voodoo and Cockenzie Lass. A combined weight of almost 9t!

- Nimrod' s fabulous chef [and of course the incredible aerial photographic coverage for the cruise - before posting this, check if we can fish the drone back at low waters..]

And of course all the rest of the flotilla, the beautiful and incredible crews and vessels under the names of Eriskay, Solveig, Cilaos, Shalimar, Katanoi and Birubi ...

Till next season...
Vito (Voodoo's vegetarian Skipper)
