RYA Discover Sailing, Sun 21 May, 1-5pm, call for volunteers

Published 14:13 on 28 Apr 2023
On Sunday 21st May the Club will once again host the Discover Sailing Day (formerly known as Push The Boat Out), This is where the Club is open to the public to pay us a visit, find out more about the opportunities available and be taken out for a short sail.
In order for the event to be as successful as it has been in the past we need volunteers both on the water and shore side. Boat owners may volunteer themselves and their boats to take visitors for short sails out of the harbour and other roles will be to will welcome and register visitors, undertake safety checks and take them to boats, manage the pontoon plus be available to offer any assistance required. Plus with the bar and kitchen open, and hopefully a BBQ, we need help for this too. Last year we had a very successful event with over one hundred people being taken out on boats, so all types of help will be needed and appreciated.
We also have some amazing onshore volunteer groups confirmed to join us for the day, including:
- St Andrew's First Aid
- British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR)
- Marine Conservation Society (MCSUK)
- Scottish Coastal Clean Up
Please contact Torben Sell <discoversailing@royalforth.org> for more information if you are interested in either making your boat available for visitors to have a short sail and/or helping ashore.
Many thanks in anticipation of any assistance you can offer.
Best wishes
Commodore
