Allow us to welcome you to the Royal Forth Yacht Club

Welcome to the Royal Forth Yacht Club. We are an established water-sports club with over 150 years of history. The Club is based at Granton Harbour within easy reach of Edinburgh city centre and provides fast access to the beautiful sailing waters of the Firth of Forth, for day sailing or for ventures further afield.

A varied racing and cruising programme is offered for members’ participation and the Club has its own fully serviced moorings for members’ boats and a manned launch service to access them. Our extensive boatyard is available for secure boat storage and basic maintenance. There are several club boats for members to use, as well as providing the opportunity to crew for other boat owners.

Our onshore facilities include a welcoming clubhouse, function room and patio with licensed facilities and hospitality seating for up to 70 persons to accommodate the busy, varied social programme throughout the entire year.

Whether an experienced sailor or beginner, boat owner or just seeking the opportunity to get out on the water, please get in contact and we would be delighted to welcome you to the Club. For more information

The Stewart Brewing Festival Series 2025

Our popular Festival Series was back this year! The BIG difference this year was the generous sponsorship by Stewart Brewing. They are a local company based in Loanhead, who produce fabulous beers with very interesting names: for example, Jurassic Guava, Gert Lush and Pulp Friction to name but three. The fourth year of this White Sail Regatta was free to enter and offered basic level competition. Yachts travelled from Burntisland More »

Cadet Open Sailing 12th August

Our cadets were treated to a marvellous couple of hours on board our regular fleet of volunteer boats on the last of the season Open Sailing event. This event was aimed at giving our young RFYC cadets, instructors and helpers some experience of sailing on a keel boat and to learn the many differences associated in doing so stepping up from their usual dinghies. The weather throughout the day suggested that there would More »

Cruise/Race in Company-10th August

Thanks to Torben for organising a very enjoyable Cruise/ Race in Company on Sunday. The destination was Portobello where the cruisers anchored up for a leisurely lunch and where the racers aimed for, after a loop round the Pallas Buoy. Torben's 'Ingrid' was their finishing mark, and Voodoo in particular came in at speed! After a gentle cruise down river, the winds picked up slightly for the homeward trip. These also helped fan the flames More »

Light winds for Open Sailing

Challenging conditions on our latest Open Sailing event gave skippers plenty of time to consider their sail plans. With very light Easterly winds and calm seas it was surprising that only one boat ("Ingrid"), out of the eight that participated, opted to fly their spinnaker for a short while. Perhaps the others couldn't quite remember where in the attic they had placed them? It was a pleasure to see Mark Primrose take to the More »

Festival Series open to all Clubs on the Forth

This is the fourth season of this venture and is back due to popular demand. In the last Series we opened the event to neighbouring clubs on the Forth and enjoyed the company of folks from BSC and FYC in addition to our two Granton Clubs. We now invite all clubs on the Forth. A mini Cruise event was an addition last year. To encourage visitors, we will not charge berthing fees on the More »
