Festival Series 14th & 15th Aug 2025

This is the fourth season of this venture and is back due to popular demand. In the last Series we opened the event to neighbouring clubs on the Forth and enjoyed the company of folks from BSC and FYC in addition to our two Granton Clubs. We now invite all clubs on the Forth. A mini Cruise event was an addition last year.

To help the visitors, we will not charge berthing fees on the pontoons on the first night and will give members' rates to all who stay on for a second or third night.

This two day event with Racing and Cruising on each evening is tailored towards encouraging cruiser boats to take part.

When?

On the evenings of Thursday 14th and Friday 15th August 2025

Where?

In the vicinity of Wardie Bay.

What Format Will The Races Take?

For about one hour each evening, the race will be a simple course around three or four yellow RFYC racing marks determined on the evening depending on the wind direction and strength. The coursewill be "average lap" - you just keep sailing round and round the course until it is stopped (shortened by flying Code flag S from the committee boat).

What If No Or Little Racing Experience?

The emphasis for the Festival Series is for enjoying some competitive sailing in a very user-friendly environment.

A full briefing will be undertaken at 18:00hrs prior to each race. This will include explaining the simple race starting procedure including a description of the flags used to start each class, and the course to be sailed.

With a separate start time from the racing dayboats like the H Boat, 707 and Dragons boats and a long start line being laid to provide plenty room for all, the aim is to make the race start as easy as possible.

Yachts will all be white sail, that is no spinnaker flying permitted.

The first start scheduled for 19:00hrs will be for day boats and will use FYCA Progressive handicaps.

The second start scheduled for 19:05hrs will be for Cruisers and will use FYCA Progressive handicaps.

What Happens After Racing?

Meet in the bar to socialise. There will be a short prize giving after racing on Friday.

Any Entry Fee?...........NO.

How Do I Enter?.........

We would appreciate you letting us know if you are coming along. You MUST read the NoR/ SIs below. A printed copy will be available at the Briefing . All yachts must sign in at the briefing.

Please e-mail kennyallan@aol.com as soon as you know you will be racing!
